Carrigaholt village is at the centre of a community which extends North, South, East and West of this village. A céad míle fáilte is extended to everyone and you will find a warm welcome among the many organisations, groups, clubs or committees that exist and work tirelessly for the good of the whole community. This community is very close-knit and supportive of one another and be assured that an offer of help is always forthcoming whenever and wherever it is needed.
This rural community has, for many years, been extremely active in fund raising for a range of worthy causes and numerous indoor and outdoor events have been organised and generously supported. The people in this community definitely bear testament to the fact that ‘nobody ever became poor by giving’.
Community get-togethers, celebrations and social gatherings are woven into the fabric of this community. Music, song and dance can be enjoyed on a regular basis in the village and of course the variety of festivals offer locals and visitors alike a chance to participate in organising events or simply enjoy the occasions.
The long-established Gaelic football club, O’Curry’s, is also extensively supported and the dedication of both players and management team is much admired. This club nurtures young talent and football is the predominant sport in this community.
The work of the Carrigaholt Tidy Towns committee does not go unnoticed as the village and its environs are adorned with seasonal plants and flowers. This committee leaves no stone unturned to ensure that the village is always kept clean and tidy.
The people who make up our community live ‘ar scáth a chéile’ and are proud and privileged to call this picturesque, scenic, unspoilt, safe and beautiful place home.
